Maniac, born Troy Eagle Chasing has always had a natural love of Hip Hop. He was born and raised in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. He is apart of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. Being from the Reservations of American, he is quite familiar with struggle. Hip Hop has always been associated with the poor, lower class and disenfranchised. Hip Hop is the voice of the people and for the people. If this is indeed true, then Maniac is regarded amongst his peers and fans to be a leader for the upcoming generation.

Maniac started rapping at the tender age of 16, but has been involved with hip-hop since he was a child watching his father and uncles breakdance to beat-boxing in theyre driveway everyday. He began as a graffitti writer at the age of 13 and moved into DJing by age 16, around the same time picking up the mic. He was always a motivated self-sufficient artist. He started his own production company called Loonatic Productions and released his first project in January of 2003 entitled “Horror Hop”. He also followed up that project with another release called “Reservation Underground” in the same year. He learned that another native artist was doing it big in the South Dakota area. He contacted none other then Night Shield, C.E.O. of Night Shield Entertainment. Maniac started sending Night Shield his projects and informing him of upcoming shows that he had. Soon after Maniac and Night Shield built a strong friendship. Also Night Shield had a profound respect for Maniac, not only as a fellow emcee, but as a businessman. Night Shield admits that he was really feeling Maniac’s lyrics, but it wasn’t until Night Shield saw Maniac perform live; that he knew he had to have him on the roster.

Well in short the rest is history. Maniac is now an official artist on the Night Shield Entertainment roster. He is currently working on his debut album on NSE entitled “Nightmerika”. The album is scheduled to be released in March of 2005 and has already been labeled one of the most anticipated projects from the label. Maniac has been receiving raving reviews for his music from the internet and magazines alike. His stage performance is amazing and his lyrical skills dominate his listeners. Maniac is here to stay as a artist and is definitely an emcee to watch out for.
